A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Joseph “Joey” Paul Ibarra Traina; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia continues to mourn the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Joseph “Joey” Paul Ibarra Traina on February 11, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Joseph “Joey” Paul Ibarra Traina was born on September 25, 1987, at the Seventh
Day Adventist Hospital in Asuncion, Paraguay, where even from an early age, he was embraced by the Peace Corps community with nicknames such as Sprout and Cheito; and
WHEREAS, after moving to Augusta, Georgia, he grew his musical and dramatic abilities while performing with the Augusta Mini Theater and pursuing education at Davidson Fine Arts, Lucy Craft Laney, and Richmond Academy; and
WHEREAS, his commitment to community involvement and activism was evident through his service with the Boys and Girls Club and as president of the Young Dems, where he was able to accelerate, share, and implement his ideas about how to improve his community; and
WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, he possessed the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the
strength of character which is achieved by overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Joey will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.


NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the life and memory of Joseph “Joey” Paul
Ibarra Traina are honored, and the deepest and most sincere regret is expressed at his passing.
So resolved, this 17 th day of May, 2022.
